Music is a medium which is utilized to convey one’s emotions. One could be expressing sadness, happiness, remorse etc. At times, a song’s beat can be distracting and, therefore, hinders the listener from paying close attention to the lyrics. There becomes an even greater barrier when the song is not written in the listener’s native language. It becomes difficult to understand the lyrics because the listener is unable to parse the words of the song and essentially understanding the true meaning of the song. This was exemplified in the song entitled “Te extrano” by Xtreme. From the title, one can infer that the writer is expressing some form of hurt because the title when translated means ‘miss you.’ Based on the opening verse, one can infer that the person Xtreme misses has been out of his life for some time now. As the song progresses, it is evident that he has strong feelings for this girl, because he states in his chorus “look at how I am suffering, I am burning inside for your love.”
